A great opportunity for your student!

Kintegra’s Summer ‘Joey’ Program is a unique volunteer program designed to provide excellent exposure to community health, community engagement, and the concept of upstream medicine (addressing the social context of disease and the socioeconomic factors contributing to overall health) to motivated students with an interest in pursuing healthcare careers.

The program begins June 3rd, 2024, and last through July 26th, 2024. 

Teens will volunteer 2 days per week, from 8am- 12pm, Mondays and Fridays for 7 weeks.

Students will gain in-depth experience by rotating through the following Kintegra departments:

  1. Family Medicine
  2. Community Health and Prevention
  3. Health Equity Initiatives
  4. Community Resource Advocacy
  5. Pharmacy
  6. Pediatric Medicine
  7. Dentistry

Student Requirements – In order to participate, students:

  • must be in grades 9 through 11. Rising 12th graders are eligible to participate.
  • must attend, accompanied by a parent or guardian, a 2-hour orientation/information session on Tuesday, May 28th, in Gastonia from 5:30pm-7:30pm. A light meal will be provided.
  • must have transportation to assigned locations within Gastonia during the week.
